Disaster Education Promotion Office (DEPO)

DEPO’s training packages are primarily designed for teachers, students, and community members, with a strong focus on practical, locally relevant disaster risk reduction and preparedness skills. The trainings emphasize hands-on learning using locally available materials, enabling participants to respond effectively during emergencies. Key areas include first aid, preparation of emergency kits, use of improvised stretchers, disaster drills for hazards such as earthquakes, floods, and fires, and community risk mapping to identify safe and vulnerable areas.
The approach combines interactive methods such as simulation exercises, games, and participatory tools to strengthen understanding and retention. Teachers are further supported to integrate DRR education into classrooms through the use of educational games and activity-based learning. Community-level sessions apply participatory approaches to build collective preparedness and response planning.
