Empowering Educators for Disaster Preparedness in Kageshwori Manohara

DEPO conducted a two-day capacity-building program on school and community-based disaster preparedness in early August 2026 for 26 teacher representatives from 13 community schools recommended by the Kageshwori Manohara Municipality Education Department. The program focused on refreshing core disaster concepts and strengthening practical emergency response skills.

The training covered first aid techniques for bleeding and fractures, blanket-sheet stretcher construction, and interactive disaster education tools. Teachers were introduced to the Emergency Kit Quiz Game, Disaster Life Cycle Games, Paper Craft and Picture Story Modules, Shuffle Card Game, Earthquake Awareness Relay, and Safe Building Construction Game. On the third day, they used these tools to engage 52 students at Kanti Bhairav Higher Secondary School.

The initiative was supported by Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) America. The trained teachers then applied the learning through a school-based knowledge-sharing event, using game-based activities to promote practical disaster preparedness among students.
